THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mama Jo's Italian Bistro Restaurant Review:
Renowned for its hearty portions and Southern Italian cuisine, the gracious 140-seat bistro is complemented by a friendly 10-seat bar. Among starters, we like the oysters Florentine---Romano-crusted oysters baked with spinach and creamy bechamel sauce. Among Mama's savory specialties are the original meat pasta pie---oven-baked hearty meats layered with cheese and marinara, and lamb osso buco with tomato demi sauce. The cioppino of lobster, shrimp, crab, clams, scallops and mussels in a light red fish sauce is a winner. Among bambino favorites are spaghetti and meatballs, and mac and cheese. The popular Sunday brunch features the Continental-style fruit, pastries and juice, and the Italian breakfast of mimosa, Bellini or glass of Champagne, an antipasto cart, and more. Among à la carte favorites are garlic bread with mozzarella and marinara, and eggs Benedict Italiano. Family-style platters for two or three hungry diners include baked ziti bolognese, and chicken Marsala or piccata. Save room for the crêpe filled with fresh berries and zabaglione cream.
