THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Maximilians Restaurant Review:
THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED The fledgling NoHo Arts District has failed to generate many notable restaurants, but this one is a promising sign indeed. Much of the menu is occupied by reasonably authentic French bistro dishes, including starters like French onion soup and a perfectly dressed salade Lyonnaise, although the artfully presented tuna tartare also warrants consideration. Entrées from chef Marc Boussarie include a crispy-skinned salmon served with spätzle and wild mushroom reduction, bouillabaisse and a superb rack of lamb with garlic jus. At lunch, guests can tuck into a salade Niçoise, quiche or croque monsieur sandwich, or even a sirloin burger with pommes frites. A charming fountain patio and a couple of intimate, candlelit dining rooms---complete with linen- and orchid-topped tables and vintage Parisian photos---are added attractions. Maximilians provides the perfect excuse to check out the NoHo scene---or simply to enjoy a fine meal.
