THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Medjool Restaurant Review:

Who knew such a cavernous space existed in San Francisco's Mission District? Medjool is at once a full-service, two level restaurant with a spacious bar and lounge, and an energetic nightclub, complete with live DJs. The space is done up in jewel tones from burnt ochre to deep purple. Come sundown, the restaurant offers a parade of happy hour specials with ample seating on its pillow-laden couches in the lounge that opens into the restaurant. Guests can also move up to the mezzanine level for a bird's eye view of all the action below. Middle Eastern, North African, and dishes inspired by southern Europe offer a spectrum of flavors. The standard cinnamon, almonds, and sweeter seasonings that typically characterize b'stilla stay in the background so the tender, juicy chicken wrapped inside is the main event. Fried sweet potatoes drizzled with honey and accented with goat cheese could easily be served as a dessert, but instead offset the restaurant’s catalog of deeply savory dishes. Desserts, interestingly enough, steer clear of the restaurant’s Mediterranean mantra, featuring purely American standards such as carrot cake and cheesecake. Once the kitchen closes for the night, the dining room transforms into an all-out nightclub.
