Formerly M&M Soul Food, this is a spacious, contemporary dining room with sleek lacquered tables, plasma screens and images of jazz greats Miles Davis and Charlie Parker. All the soulful Southern favorites are offered here, including fried or blackened catfish, baby-back ribs, and smothered pork chop. In addition, po’ boy sandwiches make for good lunches. Plates arrive with traditional sides (e.g. collard greens, yams, slightly gluey mac ‘n’ cheese, red beans and rice) and can be followed by berry cobbler. The addictive cornbread muffins are a signature, and be sure to inquire about the schedule for live jazz, which adds even more soul to an evening at Melody.
