The Gumbo Pot Restaurant Review:
No need to spend $20 to $40 a head at a Cajun restaurant --- not when you can come to The Gumbo Pot in the famous, tourist-filled Farmers Market and get good Cajun/Creole food for a fraction of that price. The muffaletta sandwiches and the flavorful gumbo yaya with chicken, shrimp and andouille sausage are impressive. Another popular traditional option is the po’ boy, a French bread sandwich whose fillings range from basic shrimp to soft shell crab. If you’re feeling adventurous, go for the frog legs or the blackened alligator tail filet. And don’t miss the beignets (sugar-dusted fritters New Orleans-style) for dessert. The happy, powdered-sugar-dusted faces you see wandering around the market all bear that happy brand of honor. Also located at Hollywood & Highland, 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Ste. 419, Hollywood, 323-469-1550.
