Hiko Sushi Restaurant Review:
Hiko is yet another undiscovered gem, hidden in an unpretentious mini-mall along the Sawtelle Corridor. It's not glamorous, but the whitewashed room with contemporary features (track lighting, abstract art and lacquered sushi bar) is smart looking, and the proprietors treat customers like gold. That same loving care is applied to the jewel-like fish --- picked up fresh every morning --- that's prepared here. The sushi bar is strictly omakase (chef's choice). If that's not your style, you'll have to grab a table. A meal might begin with a well seasoned baby tuna sashimi, then progress to sweet shrimp, fresh scallops, jumbo clam, bright-orange uni, red snapper and toro as well as monkfish liver and lobster rolls. The rice is warm, in the traditional style, and most sushi is straightforward but meticulously prepared. Choose a selection from the decent list of sakés to accompany your meal.
