Nick & Stef's Steakhouse Restaurant Review:

Über-chef Joachim Splichal created this steakhouse in honor of his twin sons, Nick and Stef. (He has since cut ties with Patina Restaurant Group.) The walls feature photographs of notable Madison Square Garden events, including images of Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis and Bob Dylan. In addition to a porterhouse for two and other beefy choices, the menu expands on the traditional steakhouse repertoire by offering assorted sauces that can be mixed and matched with any meat dish, as well as kale salad tossed with wheat berries, cranberries, sunflower seeds and Vidalia onion in a broken cider-mustard vinaigrette. A jumbo lump crab cake is juicy and almost all sweet crabmeat. Side dishes like sweet potato fries, jumbo asparagus and sautéed mushrooms round out any of the offerings. Desserts are as all-American as they come, especially the dense New York cheesecake and the rich chocolate mousse cake. Sip a martini or a Champagne cocktail or peruse Nick & Stef's wine list, highlighting classic bottles from California, Spain, Italy and France.
