Taste Restaurant Review:
Taste is a casual dining option along Melrose Avenue, for both lunch and dinner. Nestled in a house that has been converted into a restaurant, guests feel like they are eating in a home, especially since the prices are reasonable. The décor is comfortable, with leather-covered walls, red banquettes and a large patio. A Cal-eclectic menu is executed with simplicity. Thai chicken cups are served with lemon grass vinaigrette; the pear and caramelized onion pizzetta is tasty; and the radish and blood orange salad with spicy almonds is light. Among signature entrées are the braised short ribs with mashed horseradish potatoes, and the fennel seed-crusted ahi atop a crispy risotto cake. A cheese plate with three selections is available before the desserts, which range from a chocolate decadence cake to a traditional Key lime pie. The wine list is limited, but offers options from California, Spain, France and Argentina, with more than 25 by the glass.
