minibar by José Andrés Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: At minibar by José Andrés in Penn Quarter, patrons are treated to an avant-garde tasting menu of more than 20 courses for $295 (excluding beverages, tax and gratuity). The setting is very intimate with only a handful of guests at each seating. Even if the White House calls for a seat, if there are no spots, there are NO spots, so you'd better reserve well in advance. (Reservations are required and can be made via the Tock ticketing system). Read our feature on chef José Andrés, GAYOT's 2017 Best RestaurateurAbout the food: Creative bites might range from Parmesan cupcakes to "Pizza José’s Way" (a wafer-thin crust topped with burrata, caviar and truffles) to a "Rubber Ducky" meringue filled with foie gras ice cream. For an even more exclusive experience, reserve the private dining room José's Table.
About the wine: A variety of beverage pairings are available, including whimsical nonalcoholic drinks ($75), José's picks ($195) and bespoke pairings ($500). Also located within minibar by José Andrés is Barmini, a high-end cocktail/bar bites destination. Tickets are available via the Tock reservation system.
