THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ocean Prime Restaurant Review:
A brightly lit and quite visible kitchen at the rear of the restaurant animates the ambience at Ocean Prime. And despite its name, a fair line-up of beef offerings can turn the place into a steakhouse as needed. Sides include fresh corn that may complement an appetizer portion of king crab claws from Alaska. Some dishes feature odd embellishments, such as the candied cashews that accompany the calamari; order the dish without them and request an aïoli or tartar sauce instead of the sweet chili. We’ve enjoyed the scallops, but the menu incorporates them into a Parmesan cheese risotto, and we think cheese and seafood don't work well together. Steaks are an attractive option, and at least one, a filet, comes bone-in. For dessert, check out the multi-layered carrot cake with a light pineapple syrup or the fluffy peanut butter mousse with chocolate ganache and whipped cream. Ocean Prime's wine list presents a pastiche of global selections, with many by the glass. The Don Olegario Albariño is spot-on with the scallops, and there are plenty of steak-friendly reds. Ocean Prime has "young adult" and gluten-free menus, too.
