Glimpse the murals of the Italian countryside on the walls, smell the pungent garlic and spices wafting from chef/owner Dino Cialfi's kitchen, catch a strain of soothing music, note the Italian names of dishes on the menu --- and enjoy the aura of downtown Hartford's closest thing to a quaint Roman trattoria. The meal continues the journey with items that are, true to central Italian cookery, simplicity itself: house-made risotto or gnocchi di giorno, and grilled veal with a pink peppercorn sauce, brought to the table by discreetly attentive servers. A bottle of Chianti is a must, and homemade gelato in an array of flavors caps off this no-passport-required trip to Italy.
