Not just another one of your Ventura medium-priced Italians, Spumante stands out. Joe Salas, who hails not from Italy, but from Spain, shows that roots don’t matter and keeps his appealing dining room clicking. House specialties include colossal grilled prawns, wild mushroom soup, risotto di mare and goat cheese-filled ravioli. To make things even more interesting, there are also outstanding tamales and a tasty lobster bisque. The dining room is casual but polished; the patio offers a somewhat more romantic setting.
