Spumoni Restaurant Review:

Burdened by the narrowest of storefronts and a decidedly old-fashioned name, the attributes of this Valley eatery, which is part of a miniature chain, come as a bit of a surprise. Starters include a massive bowl of sautéed shrimp and clams in garlicky white wine sauce, minestrone and good salads. Big plates of veal Marsala and chicken Parmigiana with sides of spaghetti are good values, but pastas are the highlights, with 20 options available. Homemade spinach and ricotta ravioli pair with a thick pink sauce, and the kitchen turns out a good lasagna. A surprising number of gnocchi dishes offer pillow-soft morsels bathed in a variety of sauces, like wild mushroom or creamy pesto. The noisy little dining room, with walls that are lined with simple metal lanterns and diminutive paintings of Venice and Rome, is nothing fancy but not devoid of charm. The wine list is limited, but includes several reasonably priced Chiantis. For dessert, there’s tiramisu, cannoli and, of course, spumoni. Other locations.
