THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Taliesin Restaurant Review:

The ambience in this Art-Deco-style room is refined, the service is superb and the river views are sublime. Chef Joe Verde’s menu features refined contemporary Mediterranean and American dishes that were the favorites of legendary powerbrokers and visionaries and served at dinners, balls and galas of their times. The entire menu pays tribute to these past patrons with their names printed under each dish, as if to say, Have the roast loin of lamb and you will be as prestigious as J.P. Morgan. For instance, a favorite of W.K. Vanderbilt’s was the wild mushroom, caramelized onion and asparagus timbale. Entrées including the sautéed soft-shell crabs (especially liked by Mark Twain) and the grilled quail (William Waldorf Astor’s favorite) are among Verde’s specialties. The wine offerings are extensive with plenty of by-the-glass specials.
