THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Tangier Restaurant Review:
Part of an increasingly busy Los Feliz night scene, Tangier offers a pretty solid selection of New American dishes in a relatively sedate dining room filled with cozy booths (the very booths, now reupholstered in grayish-taupe fabric, that once graced the legendary Chasens), contemporary lighting fixtures and polished wood accents. The adjoining lounge, whose North African décor---exotic tapestries, ornate chandeliers, sofas with colorful silk throw pillows---better reflects the establishments name, has become one of the most popular Gen-X late-night destinations in the area. The cooking here includes tasty empanadas filled with lamb and manchego cheese, tuna carpaccio, chicken curry, a nicely prepared sesame-crusted halibut with lobster-miso sauce, and rack of lamb with red currant jus.
