THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Tasca Restaurant Review:
Along Third Street's crowded restaurant row, this homey storefront eatery features a long wine bar on one side of the candlelit, sage-green room, with polished wood tables and banquettes on the other. The distinctly European vibe is carried throughout the menu; although Spain takes center stage, other Mediterranean influences are well represented. Crostini topped with delicate white anchovies, tomato and egg represents one of the better dishes, along with a solid boudin noir with sautéed apples and onions. A traditional tortilla española is topped with saffron aïoli, while truffled chicken liver mousse is quite creamy. Among larger plates is a duck confit respectable enough for a French bistro, risotto with leeks, and paella on certain nights. If you’re still hungry, you can finish with panna cotta or velvety pot de crème. The wines, all offered by the half-glass, glass or bottle, are reasonably priced and represent diverse European appellations and much of the New World. There is also a good sangría offered here.
