Turquoise Restaurant Review

: Colors of green, turquoise and cream emanate through the floor-to-ceiling windows of this small Mediterranean-inspired café in Redondo Beach’s Riviera Village. The glass exterior gives the dining room an open feeling, allowing the surrounding neighborhood to charm guests. The health-conscious menu is driven by the use of organic and natural ingredients in appetizers such as “mast-o-laboo,” a homemade yogurt stirred with roasted beets, which are surprisingly sweet. Slightly syrupy and chunky “torshe anbeh” is a mango chutney spiced with tamarind and dates. Skewers make up most of the larger plates, with options like marinated chicken breast, tofu and filet mignon; halibut is worth a try, as it’s topped with a rich cream sauce made with white wine and onions and served over cilantro-seasoned brown rice. At brunch, a polenta pizza is layered with feta cheese and mushrooms, while omelets incorporate Mediterranean spices like turmeric. The wine list is limited, with most options hailing from California. For dessert, decide between crème brûlée and Persian ice cream with rosewater and pistachio.
