: This East Village eatery from Shane Covey and Jennifer Gavin is all about fresh oysters, good beer and a few seafood staples. A blackboard posts the day’s food and drink offerings, and you’re encouraged to start with a variety of East Coast and West Coast oysters, accompanied by a local wine or brew. Specials of scallops and shrimp change weekly, and the fettuccine with fresh sweet clams, cooked with Parmesan and the right touch of olive oil, is a signature. Eight regional craft beers on tap rotate according to what’s freshest, with most selections from upstate New York or New Jersey. Try the Ramstein Blonde Hefeweizen from New Jersey for a slightly more potent white Belgian, or the Captain Lawrence Espresso Stout from Westchester. Gavin bakes the restaurant’s signature whiskey cake, a simple sweet to end your meal. |
