Via Alloro, Beverly Hills, CA

Via Alloro Restaurant Review

: Via Alloro is another upscale Italian restaurant from the Drago family, this time from brothers Giacomino and Tanino. In a departure from the traditional European style décor one might expect, diners will find a modern environment featuring a semi-circular room with a bar and tables that are slightly elevated from the rest of the space. Outdoor dining is available along the sidewalk, but there is a more private patio, too. Chef de cuisine Paolo Sicuro is quite proud of his food and Italian heritage. With a choice of 60-plus items on the menu, guests are sure to find something appealing. Start off with grilled octopus, turkey meatballs with spinach and mozzarella, or fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with ricotta. Choose from pizzas and pastas, such as pappardelle with duck ragoût, as well as entrées ranging from grilled beef tenderloin to whole Dover sole baked with lemon and caper sauce. Other specialties include flame-grilled langoustines and black risotto with squid ink and seafood. Panna cotta, warm pistachio cake and cannoli filled with ricotta and orange mousse are among the top desserts. There is a lengthy lineup of artisanal cocktails, and the wine list is predominantly Italian. Service is efficient but also very jovial.
