Yen Sushi & Sake Bar Restaurant Review:

It's difficult to stand out among the dozens of sushi bars set along this stretch of Ventura Boulevard. But Yen, located in the same complex as The Bistro Garden, offers sleek lines, dark wood tables, a six-seat sushi bar and flattering lighting. The sushi is of good quality, although the selection is not particularly wide, and you won't find too many exotic species. Instead, the emphasis is on the large number of creative and sometimes whimsical rolls --- it’s a choice that tends to suit the clientele. Clam miso soup is a solid starter, while entrées such as charbroiled lamb chops, chicken teriyaki and Chilean sea bass in miso sauce provide additional options for those seeking more substance. A small selection of sakés is available, and green tea ice cream is a welcome finish. Lunch specials offer good value, with sushi and other combos priced between $9 and $13.
