Zip Fusion Restaurant Review:

Like the original Zip Fusion in Little Tokyo, this branch has an edgy vibe despite its tame suburban shopping center location. Both the sushi bar and cocktail bar are underlit for a sensual effect, while tables for teppanyaki feasts occupy the rear of the restaurant. The nigiri sushi is good quality, but most guests choose from an endless list of specialty rolls, some of which are hybrids. The baked scallop roll, for instance, consists of a plate of saucy scallops with mushrooms and onions piled atop slices of a California roll. Other favorites include the signature alba-cado (albacore wrapped in avocado and drizzled with eel sauce, resembling a green apple), a generous spicy tuna salad or baked yellowtail "pizza" to pair with a saké or soju cocktail. For dessert, there’s mochi ice cream. Even when a dish at Zip doesn't quite deliver, we have to appreciate the innovation and the fact that its ambitious owner, Jason Ha, has taken his hip fusion concept to the Inland Empire.
