THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Zono Sushi Restaurant Review:
This is a reliable neighborhood sushi bar, nothing more, nothing less. The chefs are skilled and friendly, and the establishment appears to have a commitment to quality ingredients. If you're expecting world-class sushi à la Matsuhisa, Zono will disappoint, but for most purposes, this place succeeds in delivering satisfying sushi and other Japanese specialties at reasonable prices. Begin with tempura-fried spicy shishito peppers, pork-stuffed gyoza dumplings, or thinly sliced beef coated in ponzu sauce. There is a large selection of rolls like the fusion Italian roll (crab, avocado and sun-dried tomatoes, with three melted cheeses). Plenty of sushi and sashimi is also available, as well as teriyaki, tempura and teppanyaki entrées. For dessert, mochi ice cream and fried bananas are on order. A small selection of saké is available to imbibe.
