Z's Oyster Bar & Steakhouse Restaurant Review:

Louisville is hundreds of miles from the nearest ocean, but thanks to the city being home to United Parcel Service’s largest shipping hub, Z’s gets a daily quota of fish from the waters off of Hawaii and oysters from the Pacific Northwest. The latter pair beautifully with an icy gin martini to whet your appetite before moving on to one of the house-aged Prime steaks. Other starters include chilled shrimp larger than your thumb and meaty crab cakes (no filling here). Besides steak, entrées range from a first-rate rack of lamb to a veal porterhouse and crab-stuffed trout. Recommended à la carte sides are the mushrooms sautéed with Maker’s Mark bourbon, tender grilled asparagus and savory creamed corn. Washington’s salad mixes tart Granny Smith apples, candied pecans and blue cheese crumbles with field greens. The signature dessert is a Godiva chocolate crème brûlée. Z’s wine list is well served by a highly professional staff.
