Z's Oyster Bar & Steakhouse Restaurant Review: Thanks to the fact that Louisville has the largest UPS hub in the country, Z’s can get freshly caught fish from as far away as Hawaii daily, as well as the city’s best selection of Pacific Coast oysters. Begin your Z’s dinner by settling at a table in the main dining room or in a booth in the lounge with a plate of the shellfish and a bone-dry gin martini. (If you are not an oyster lover, order the truly enormous but flavorful jumbo shrimp as your starter.) You could continue with the crab-stuffed trout or lemony Dover sole, but this is, after all, a steakhouse. We recommend the filet, and rack of lamb, too. Sides, including creamed corn, grilled asparagus, creamed spinach, and bourbon-laced sautéed mushrooms, are offered à la carte in portions large enough to share. Or get your greens in the form of the iceberg wedge with either blue cheese or avocado dressing. After all the meat and seafood, share the Godiva chocolate crème brûlée. The wine list features a large selection of meat- and seafood-worthy choices. The level of service matches the upscale menu. A second location downtown at 115 S. 4th St., 502-855-8000, is closed on Sunday.
