Z's Oyster Bar & Steakhouse Restaurant Review: When UPS located its largest American hub in Louisville, it set the stage for Z’s to get truly fresh seafood in land-locked Kentucky. The selection of fresh oysters, mostly hailing from the Pacific Northwest, changes daily. The walu or ahi on your plate would have been swimming less than 24 hours before becoming your dinner. Attentive servers recite the daily fish selection with brief descriptions of flavor and texture. Jumbo tiger shrimp larger than your thumb, rich crab cakes, Dover sole prepared tableside, and fresh lobster shape the seafood side of the menu. Steaks are prepared in virtually all the classic cuts and styles, along with rack of lamb. À la carte sides include sautéed or creamed spinach, creamed corn and a loaded baked potato. Whipped sweet potatoes are enhanced with Jack Daniel’s. The book-size wine list has first-rate selections, but bargains are hard to find. The Godiva chocolate crème brûlée makes a nice, light meal-ender. Also located downtown at 115 S. 4th St., 502-855-8000.
