Tucked into downtown’s boutique Alden-Houston hotel, this sleek restaurant has far more going for it than your typical hotel eatery. If you’re lucky, nab a table by the picture window to watch the bustling street traffic and enjoy the regional cuisine, a mash-up of local-produce-meets-hip-recipes. The kitchen, run by Texan David Coffman, creates seasonal menus that include everything from grilled cheese sandwiches (with three local artisan cheeses) to a deconstructed beef Wellington and a sous-vide pork belly with apple butter and a light beurre blanc. A full bar and wine list with several select Texas wines, complemented by some creative house-made sorbets and spiced ice creams and warm cookies, round out the meal.
