THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED 900 Degrees Restaurant Review:
Named for the temperature at which the pizzas are cooked, this West Village pizzeria is brought to you by the team behind San Francisco’s popular Tony’s Pizza Napoletana (who are the first Americans to win Best Pizza Margherita at the World Pizza Cup). There is, of course, the classic margherita, baked in a wood-fired oven. But unlike other pizzerias in the neighborhood, 900 Degrees doesn’t stop there. Even better than the classic Neapolitan pizzas are the tomato pies, cooked in a brick oven to make the bottom crispier; the aged-60-days mozzarella is put on first and then slathered in tomato sauce. And if all this isn’t enough, there are also cigar-shaped, thin-crust, Roman-style pies that are great for groups. Wash it all down with a glass of nero d’avola or a pint of local beer.
