| A thick smoke curl is visible by the side of the road sooner than the sign for this place, owned by one of wrestling’s most honored stars. Beside the simple squat building that serves as a restaurant, a screened-in structure houses the smokers, its clapboard sides adorned by a profile portrait of the owner. The smoked ribs and chicken seem cooked from the heart, and rib tips may center a meal. Slaw seems freshly made and is enlivened by the hints of green bell pepper. Homemade desserts include Southern classics, such as sweet potato tarts, but we suggest the cheesecake tart. The place also serves Chinese food, offering fairly standard dishes from the Chinese-American repertoire. Also located in the food court at nearby Greenbriar Shopping Center. |
