| The menu in this cozy, soft-colored room offers a rich blend of Italian and Central European influences-think sauerkraut, goulash and strudel. Chef-owner Bruno Viscovi (from the town of Albona on the Italian-Yugoslavian border) has lovingly re-created the flavors he remembers from his childhood. You'll find chifeleti, pan-fried potato gnocchi in a superb beef sirloin and cumin sauce, and such entrées as braciole di maiale, pork cutlets stuffed with sauerkraut, apples, prunes and prosciutto. The wine list offers mostly Italian varietals, including overlooked gems from the Friuli and Alto-Adige regions. For dessert, try the competent strudel. |
