 Amanda's setting is enchanting and warm with seating divided among several dining rooms. The restaurant's winning trompe l'oeil décor and its menu full of tempting choices attracts the well-heeled young professionals who inhabit Hoboken. Salads are complex and artfully presented, especially the smoked trout and endive salad dressed with citrusy lemon vinaigrette. Among entrées, the roasted duck breast with pear-potato purée, wilted greens and sour cherry sauce or the honey-balsamic-marinated chicken breast with baby vegetables and roasted potatoes taste as good as the tempting description leads you to believe. Nightly early bird specials really are special. A sophisticated wine list is offered at reasonable prices and special events are hosted here on a regular basis. Desserts are something of an afterthought, but a good choice is Rodney's Cheesecake, light-bodied and just right. |
