Andrene's Caribbean & Soul Food Carry Out Restaurant Review: Way up at the tail end of DC’s Northwest area, this carry-out features earthy examples of soul and Caribbean fare. Check the menu, not the blackboard (some of the items are not available) before ordering, but you’ll surely be happy enough with the curry goat, a side of greens, and a side of fried plantains. Other Caribbean offerings include king fish, escoveitched snapper, and ackee and saltfish. Something more Southern includes ribs, and barbecue wingettes. For sweets, the place offers a good cheesecake, but it’s not made on the premises. For an eye-opener, Andrene’s serves breakfast, which includes the standards of eggs, toast, pancakes, hash browns and corned beef hash.
