Dining room at Anepalco's Cafe, Orange, CA

Anepalco's Cafe Restaurant Review

: This neighborhood breakfast and lunch favorite has expanded to a second location; an elegant, earth-toned space tucked inside the Ayers Inn Orange about a block south of Angel Stadium. It has also expanded its menu to include dinner service. However, chef/owner Daniel Godinez has ensured that his unique blend of Mexican cuisine with French influences is still as tasty as that at the original establishment in the Orange Circle. The dinner menu is full of playful items that highlight this unique culinary synergy, from starters such as ahi tartare made with Mexican chiles and pepitas oil to achiote-marinated beef crêpes served with a jalapeño chimichurri sauce. For mains, we recommend the tilapia accompanied with a Serrano beurre blanc or the tender al adobo steak served with a side of the restaurant’s chilaquiles. While some may gravitate toward the small but interesting list of craft beers, wine lovers may want to explore the sturdy catalogue of Mexican labels. The restaurant presents a daily brunch service offering quiches, crêpes and classic Mexican breakfast items.
