Angeli Restaurant Review: The bars in New Orleans stay open all night, yet somebody has to feed the masses late at night. After all, sometimes you just need a burger at 2 a.m. Angeli's allure can be credited both to its satisfying, inexpensive food and its colorful ambience. Old tile-and-wood floors, weathered columns and movies projected onto the patina-covered wall behind the bar contribute to the funky feel, as does the clientele of French Quarter residents, tourists and bar-hoppers. The menu ranges from generously portioned appetizers to gyros and chicken pizzas. Bread baked in-house elevates the sandwiches above the ordinary, no matter what the filling, Occupying a high-traffic corner that makes for great people watching, the place is open so late it's almost early: until 2 a.m. during the week and until 4 a.m. on weekends. |
