Angeli On Decatur Restaurant Review: Angeli sits on one of the busiest corners in the French Quarter, surrounded by galleries and antiques shops and just a few steps from the famous New Orleans flea market. Old tile-and-wood floors, weathered columns and movies projected onto the patina-covered wall behind the bar contribute to the funky ambience. Abetting the atmosphere is the clientele of French Quarter residents, tourists and bar-hoppers. Generously portioned appetizers (try the Divine Portabella with grilled chicken), gyros and chicken pizzas drive the menu. Bread baked in-house elevates the sandwiches above the ordinary, no matter what the filling. Angeli does not offer much in the way of wines (one red and one white), but the full bar is nicely stocked. A surprisingly first-rate tiramisu for dessert is available, too, but our favorite is the turtle cheesecake. Open until 2 a.m. during the week and 4 a.m. on weekends. Delivery is available in the French Quarter and to the Faubourg Marigny.
