| Whether you take in a ballgame, concert, a play --- or just head to the thriving sports and theater section of downtown Detroit --- this is a good place to stop. The menu, inspired by the cuisine of southern Italy, also incorporates the best of the entire Mediterranean. Start off with one of four antipasti; we like the La Angelina with prosciutto di San Daniele, house-made mortadella, sopressata, cured and smoked fish and marinated, pickled vegetables. Then, move on to the tasting plates, featuring the likes of tapenade-rubbed strip loin skewers with field greens and Gorgonzola dipping sauce, or smoked cod croquettes. Large plates are an option as well; try the shrimp risotto or littleneck clams and linguine with pancetta, mushrooms and spinach sauced with olive oil and garlic. The restaurant features a full bar, and there’s a wide selection of wines by the glass. Also available: Motor City Brewing Works microbrews. |
