Annapurna is a chai house, and the staff arguably makes the best chai in town---a spicy black tea drink made with milk or soy milk. In that vein, be sure to order a chai while you wait for your meal at this vegan and vegetarian eatery. The breakfast menu is a boon for the health-conscious crowds who order freshly baked, often sugar-free and-or gluten-free muffins and pastries. For lunch or dinner, chapati (flatbread) is a lovely accompaniment to the soup of the day, such as ginger-carrot or pumpkin. Kitchari, an offering considered Ayurvedic (focusing on using food to re-establish balance in the body), features rice, mung beans and vegetables. Tuck into one of the curtained, low-tabled sitting areas, get comfortable on floor cushions and sip tea until your food is delivered.
