Anthony's Pier 4 Restaurant Review: Founder Anthony Athanas opened his flagship restaurant in 1963, and his four sons now manage and operate the restaurant. Photos of the numerous celebrities who have dined here over the decades line the walls, and this nostalgic Seaport District seafood favorite offers one of the best up-close-and-personal views of Boston Harbor in town. While touristy, Anthony’s still delivers notable local seafood, and boasts a tremendous raw bar menu. Dinnertime features Boston fish chowder (cod and flounder stewed in a light, creamy broth with smoky bacon, onions, potato and corn) as well as Anthony's famous Boston scrod. Best bets include blackened yellowfin tuna served Cajun style, baked stuffed lobster and the fisherman’s platter. A whole Dover sole imported from France is boned tableside. For land lubbers, veal chop, prime rib, filet mignon, New York sirloin or rack of lamb should please. We like all the extra fixings as well, like house-marinated mushrooms and the piping-hot popovers. Baked Alaska with strawberry sauce is a fitting ending. The vast wine list is an added bonus. |
