Aqua Restaurant Review: This multi-purpose bar and restaurant bridges the culinary globe between Asia and Italy while taking in the local panorama from the 29th floor of One Peking Road, a Kowloon landmark. One flight up from sister restaurant Hutong and the vibe changes entirely. The sexy bar exemplifies industrial style and is barely lit save for spotlights on tables, the radiant light across Victoria Harbour to the Hong Kong island skyline, and an under-lit bar. Drinks, created by London mixologist Manual Soro, include the Aqua Spritz crafted with Aperol, apricot brandy, St Germain, Prosecco, egg whites, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, oregano and elderflower sorbet. A wine list strong on blockbuster Italian reds and vintage Champagne makes this lounge a popular choice for expense account gatherings or vacationers on their last night in Hong Kong. Choose between the authentic and innovative sushi served in the “aqua tokyo” tatami mat dining room or creative Italian fare from “aqua roma,” like scampi and foie gras with strawberries marinated in 24-year-aged balsamic, served at tables with harbor views. For those who wish to continue into the night, “aqua spirit” located one level up draws stiletto heels and bespoke suits off of the navy blue leather banquette seating and onto the dance floor with nightly performances from resident and international DJs.
