 The Ashby Inn & Restaurant Restaurant Review: The Ashby Inn & Restaurant stars chef Tarver King, who oversees the daily menu creations. Noted for his emphasis on locally sourced and preferably organic ingredients, King has drawn up such dishes as charred salsify soup, leg of lamb with blue cornbread, and a chocolate semifreddo with candied barley for dessert. Local wines are paired with the savory portion of the meal; for the chef’s tasting menu, wines are paired with each course. Brunch may feature a whole-wheat waffle with fried chicken, pork hash or smoked pork Benedict with naan and curried chickpeas. The clever, inventive meals are served in one of the old-time dining rooms --- the inn has a proud pedigree, and is a desirable destination for DC denizens. Guests may stroll the picturesque grounds before driving back to the metro area. Lucky folks can tuck themselves in for the night, only to wake up to one of King’s breakfasts. |
