| Despite its status as a maritime city, Boston lacks a truly great seafood restaurant. So hopes were high when the ambitious Atlantic 101 opened on the waterfront. Sightlines afford views of the harbor, the North End and the skyline. The spacious, flower-filled room boasts a 150-gallon aquarium. Too bad the menu pulls a Dennis Rodman----all talk (in this case menu writing) and no action. On a recent visit, the lobster bisque tasted thin; the monkfish was braised and frighteningly off-balance with a tomato-cilantro sauce and crab wontons. On the upside, the grilled lobster was fabulously simple with olive oil, basil, and potatoes, as was everything from the raw bar. But, alas, a lowly chicken breast was served with a depressingly flat sauce of lemon and thyme. |
