Atomic Cowboy rambles over half a block, with the indoor restaurant area making up a relatively small part of the complex. There’s a Quonset-style bar, a spacious patio and a music annex called The Foxhole, all of which allow food. The restaurant’s open kitchen generally serves as part of the backdrop, although it never slacks on its job of fueling the party. There are appetizers galore, including numerous variations on the taco, with plenty of opportunities for trying the three house salsas, including a citrusy green number. Perhaps the best of the "Atomic Saucers"---despite the name, these are entrées, not appetizers---is the vegetable enchilada of zucchini and cheese nestled in a bed of lightly cooked, generously garlicked spinach. More combustible fuel comes in the form of specialty tequilas and signature cocktails, like the cowboy cosmo and cactus juice margarita. Entertainment varies from classic country bands to house DJs to burlesque to backyard boxing bouts. The upside is that with so many dining areas to choose from, everybody can find a seat to suit their mood.
