Great Wine List* Click here for rating key
Aurora is mostly Dallas deluxe, from the floor-to-ceiling curtains that separate you from the mundane world outside to the tuxedoed waitstaff there to coddle patrons lucky enough to have snagged one of the dozen or so tables. The staff is discreet and knowledgeable, having mastered the art of being there exactly when you need them then magically disappearing to let you enjoy your meal and companions. Chef Avner Samuel’s menu changes weekly (a tasting menu is also offered) but expect treats such as a lush foie gras in Banyuls jus, a deceptively simple chilled cucumber and avocado soup, and a rack of lamb with mini chops. During fresh truffle season one may find the delicacy utilized in everything from whipped egg served in the shell to a topnotch risotto. The wine list leans toward luxury items from France, Italy and California with plenty of first growths, Super Tuscans and cult Cabs to choose from. Expensive yes, but then Aurora is not for the faint of pocketbook. |
