Aux Vivres Restaurant Review: Aux Vivres grew from a tiny eatery to a restaurant that attracts new audiences with its vegan rice bowls, chapati sandwiches, hearty salads, veggie burgers and soups, all carefully prepared using mostly organic, local produce. Best is the Dragon bowl with shredded beets, carrots, red cabbage, daikon, radish, sprouts, seaweed, toasted sesame seeds, grilled tempeh and an addictive tahini sauce. Try the BLT made with coconut bacon or the portobello mushroom burger on a whole-wheat bun with caramelized onions, tomato, lettuce, pickle and chipotle mayo. Gluten-free and nut-free items are indicated on the menu, and salads, soups and desserts are available from the to-go counter (don't miss the carrot cake and dark chocolate brownies). Smoothies come with names like Bombay banana, Tropicalia or The Freestyle, which offers a unique blend of celery, pineapple, orange juice and banana. An entire menu is devoted to organic teas and herbal infusions.
