| Avila is the younger sibling to the brassier Italian inflected Davio’s. An after-work crowd gathers at the large curved bar for a glass of wine paired up with hearty small plates, like crispy chicken livers with port balsamic glaze or cast iron sizzling shrimp with garlic, parsley and olive oil. You can also find the Philly cheesesteak, buffalo chicken, chicken Parm and shrimp cotija spring rolls that put Davio’s on the map. In the rusty-and-dusty-hued dining room, we enjoy indulging in these robustly flavored snacks and appetizers turned out of the open kitchen. Entrées are equally bold, such as paella Valencia with clams, mussels, shrimp, chorizo, calamari and chicken with saffron rice, or braised beef short rib pappardelle with black truffle jus. For the less adventurous, there’s an à la carte menu that includes a juicy Prime aged New York sirloin, sautéed jumbo shrimp and center cut filet mignon. A dessert cart will roll around tempting you with the must-have cookie platter. |
