Whether you’re taking in a ballgame, concert or play in the Comerica Park area, this is a good place to stop. To accommodate event-goers, the restaurant often opens early. With its handcrafted fresh pasta and in-house butchered meats, the menu is inspired by the cuisine of southern Italy, and it also incorporates the best of the entire Mediterranean. Start off with the antipasti; we like the La Angelina with prosciutto di San Daniele, house-made mortadella, soppressata, cured and smoked fish and marinated, pickled vegetables. Then move on to the tasting plates, featuring the likes of tapenade-rubbed strip loin skewers with field greens and Gorgonzola dipping sauce or smoked cod croquettes. Large plates are an option as well; try the shrimp risotto or littleneck clams and linguine with pancetta, mushrooms and spinach sauced with olive oil and garlic. The restaurant features a full bar, and there’s a wide selection of wines by the glass and bottle with an emphasis on Italian labels. Motor City Brewing Works microbrews are available, too.
