An upscale cousin of chef Tom Condron’s The Liberty in South End, Lumiere offers French fine dining in an approachable setting. But don’t let the strip mall location fool you. This swanky Myers Park spot has a new menu weekly, complete with standards from Bourgogne escargots (snails laced with Pernod, butter and parsley with puff pastry) to a modern approach to duck à l’orange. The foie gras presentation changes nightly, so inquire as to its specific adornments. Other starters include salt roasted pear salad with creamy Roquefort, baby greens and port vinaigrette. More adventurous palates should opt for Sonoma Valley pheasant breast or Texas wild boar chops, served with Alsatian choucroute, Cheshire pork belly and a rich truffle macaroni. Seafood is represented by Canadian and Alaskan halibut and sea bass, each with its own market-fresh vegetables as accompaniments. For dessert, consider the apple tarte Tatin or crème brûlée. The wine list focuses on French offerings, but it’s the house-made cocktails that shine.
