Public School 702 Restaurant Review:
This 14,000-square-foot gastropub features a school theme that is celebrated throughout with accouterments such as a bookcase with encyclopedias, chalkboards, to-go bags labeled "homework" and a menu in the shape of a composition book. The seasonal menu includes crispy Buffalo cauliflower with blue cheese aïoli; ahi tacos with jícama avocado salsa; shrimp and white cheddar grits with a beer-blanc sauce; Irish stout short rib with shaved horseradish Yukon mashed potatoes; and Jidori chicken and white bean ragoût with sautéed kale, slivered garlic, soffrito and blistered tomatoes. A dessert special is offered daily, while other desserts are available all the time, such as a lemon meringue with pecan graham cracker crust and lemon curd, and the Nutella cookie sandwich with bacon brittle, chocolate chunk cookie and vanilla bean ice cream. The gastropub fare is complemented by a craft beer list including locally brewed Joseph James Citra Rye and Tenaya Creek Bonanza Brown. Happy hour, dubbed "recess," occurs weekdays from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. in the spacious bar and patio areas, with views of the Strip from its second-level perch. Brunch is served weekends from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
