Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: The Venetian's Restaurant Row is home to an outpost of Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill, a globally inspired restaurant that also has locations in Miami and Brooklyn. The décor is inspired by Cuban and Latin American architecture, with wrought-iron detailing, vintage lighting, inlaid wood flooring and tray ceilings trimmed in rich red hues.

Likes: The bar serves one of the largest collections of rum in Las Vegas, with 132 choices from more than 20 locales from around the world.
Dislikes: Some of the rums are quite pricey, like the Appleton 50-year, which will set you back $1,500. However, there are several that fall within a reasonable price range that are of excellent quality, such as the Dos Maderas PX 5+5 from Barbados, an excellent value at $14 considering it has been aged for a total of 10 years in sherry oak.

About the food: The globally-inspired menu is divided into sections of raw bar, crudos, small plates and open fire grill. Delights from the sea served in the shell take in a daily array of East and West Coast oysters, middle neck clams, king crab and lobster. Seven crudos are available, of which we recommend the West Coast snapper ceviche with aji amarillo, sweet potato and crispy maiz cancha, and the blue fin tuna tartare with yuzu kosho and avocado purée. Among the small plates, go for the sea urchin and avocado toast and the bone marrow with veal cheek marmalade. Fired on a robata grill are proteins such as chicken breast with yakitori sauce and Korean-style beef short ribs. Vegas-only signature desserts worth saving room for include the sesame bombe: sesame sponge cake, vanilla meringue and black sesame sauce.

About the drinks: The bar has one of the largest collections of rum in Las Vegas (more than 100, as in the Appleton Estate 50-Year-Old) and pours creative cocktails like the Beet Mojito with beet-infused rum, lime-sugar and mint. Several wines by the glass are offered, with selections hailing from around the globe (Italy, France, California, New Zealand, Germany, Argentina and Spain).
