About the restaurant & décor: Cooking everything from scratch accounts for the quality of the menu offerings and, consequently, for the crowds on the weekends. Locals, everyone from Northwestern students to families, don't mind standing in lines that might wrap outside the door for the generous portions and attentive service. A vintage feel runs throughout, right down to the stained glass and wooden chairs.

Likes: Breakfasts that fill you past lunch.
Dislikes: The wait can be brutal if you don't arrive before 9 a.m. on weekends.

Food & Drinks: The meats – ham, bacon, Canadian bacon, sausage – alone are memorable, and the juices are freshly squeezed. Through and through, this is a solid option for a.m. eats. Omelets are stuffed with vegetables that are as fresh as can be; and those omelets, blended and baked rather than cooked on the stove, are among the fluffiest we’ve encountered. But it’s the sweet items that keep us and most other regulars coming back. The apple pancake is a wonder, the Dutch baby is meant to be coddled, and the chocolate chip pancakes evoke memories of childhood. Other locations.
