Baba Yega, housed in a charming Victorian bungalow with a lush garden patio, has been a popular Montrose spot since 1975, and is most notable for its vegetarian dishes. But the eclectic menu also offers everything from burgers with hand-cut fries to typical Tex-Mex items. Starters like ceviche and grilled portobello mushrooms are welcomed, as are entrées such as yellowfin tuna, grilled medium rare, and the red snapper topped with shrimp, mushrooms and green onions in a lemon-butter sauce. Baba Yega's unusually extensive selection of sandwiches and basic American cooking endures, and rarely disappoints. The restaurant does a bustling Sunday brunch business, but whatever time you dine here, do save room for the peanut butter pie, a real treat.
