Bac Asian American Bistro & Bar Restaurant Review: Bac has reinvigorated the corner of West 14th and Auburn in Tremont by dishing up classic interpretations of pad thai, seared tuna and spring rolls alongside more unique dishes, like bacon guacamole or grilled pork chops with a fried egg. The setting is ultra-contemporary (teak-framed mirrors, dark wood bars, less-than-cozy chairs and neo-Asian art), and the food is refreshingly original. Depending on how hungry you are, choose between a light bite from the soup and salad section, a full meal from starters and small plates or a mix of meat and seafood entrées, each served with noodles or rice. Start with the coconut-milk crêpes, which are crisp on the outside and tender within. Then go for either the kimchi noodles, which are surprisingly spicy, or the avocado green curry, which boasts a deep, rich flavor. Finish with the fried ice cream, laced with caramel sauce and served hot from the wok. The signature cocktail menu is also noteworthy. Try the Singapore redux, made with gin, lime and pineapple juices and Thai chili syrup, or the 17th Parallel, composed of vodka, cucumber water, Vietnamese herb syrup and lemon juice.
