THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Backflip Restaurant Review:

The apotheosis of hip finds its home at Backflip, the bar and restaurant hidden in a little corner of the Tenderloin. (The space, part of the Phoenix Hotel, once housed Miss Pearl’s Jam House.) More L.A. than S.F., Backflip-its décor vibrant with shades of aquamarine-overlooks the motel’s outdoor swimming pool. This place is hot with singles, so it’s no surprise that the drink menu is nouveau martini bar. Backflip serves a tapas-style cocktail cuisine that roams the culinary map: two-bite burgers, vegetable spring rolls, interesting dips. The food is fun, not serious. Great people-watching.
